July is here and we decided to do a little soul searching. As we reached out and communicated with you, we realized we were dismissing one valuable point in our product range. Clean Beauty. In our world, there is no such thing as being unsustainable anymore. There is no excuse for not participating in clean and ethical practices. That’s why we decided to re-evaluate our relationship with clean beauty. For this month, we are putting all our energy and time into finding and sharing brands that cater to this crucial philosophy. To do this, we must break down the idea of “Clean Beauty” and discover what lies at the heart of it.

NATURAL

We hear the phrase “all natural” all the time. Whether we’re out shopping or watching an ad, we cannot outrun it. But, what does all natural mean and why it is so important? We did some research and discovered that an all natural product does not contain any artificial or synthetic ingredients. Artificial and synthetic ingredients reside in a grey area. Sometimes, synthetic ingredients can be developed organically and are safe for consumers. However, some artificial ingredients are toxic to us and can cause long-term harm down the line. Be sure to read the ingredient label on the back of a product and make sure it’s true to its word.

CRUELTY-FREE

We all have a sense of what cruelty-free means. Just to be safe, let’s define it anyway. Cruelty-Free means that a product has not been tested on animals. There is a lot of discourse surrounding cruelty-free beauty. Some countries require animal testing and sometimes brands will work around this system to meet the demands of various consumers. Here at Cupidrop, we are true to our word. For July, we will primarily focus on brands that are truly and honestly cruelty-free.

Vegan is a new addition to the clean beauty family. A vegan product is an item that does not contain animal by-products and is not tested on animals. Vegan products tend to have additional environmental claims like petroleum-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free, and even gluten-free. Vegan is a developing market that is showing incredible promise amongst ingredient-conscious consumers.
